Dad,
Your confusion doesn't matter;
I earned my "snobby" vocabulary.
Dad,
Your anger doesn't matter;
I understand someone's discomfort.
Dad,
Your disappointment doesn't matter;
I will never be blue-collar.
Dad,
Your misunderstanding doesn't matter;
I prefer not being what you wanted.
Dad,
Your numbness doesn't matter;
I like my deeds not being seen.
Dad,
Your crudeness doesn't matter;
I just won't bring her around you.
Dad,
Your past doesn't matter;
I can't see how I reflect more on you though.
Dad,
Your resentment doesn't matter;
We'll be rid of each other in a few years.
Dad,
Your menagerie of flaws doesn't matter;
Fresh in Mind
With her words fresh in mind, I make for bed,
Casting off the day's filth to spend night wrapped
In the arms of memory.
With her touch fresh in mind, I pull my sheets aside,
Climbing onto the sheeted mattress to spend night enveloped
In her loving embrace.
With her breath fresh in mind, I close my eyes,
Clinging to my cotton pillow to spend night
In imagined closeness.
With her warmth fresh in mind, I begin to dream,
Culling my connection to reality to spend night enthralled
In a craved contact.
With her visage fresh in mind, I awaken abruptly,
Called back to consciousness to spend day with her
Fresh in mind.
